What is The Swansea Fringe Festival?

For one autumn weekend every year, The Swansea Fringe flickers into life. Taking over music venues, art galleries and other spaces - both traditional and the not-so-much - around Swansea City centre to bring people some of the most exciting, diverse and, most importantly right damn fun, emerging and established music, art, poetry and comedy from Swansea, Wales and sometimes a little further afield. Booking nearly a hundred performers spread over more than a dozen venues the Swansea Fringe aims to offer something for everyone and make it a true festival for everyone.

The Fringe Festival has open applications for any local artists and performers to apply alongside a small number of curated artists, and select headliners. Previous acts have included the likes of The Bug Club, Gallops, Afro Cluster, Morriston Orpheus Choir, Trampolene, Buzzard Buzzard Buzzard, Adwaith and more.

The Swansea Fringe was re-established in 2017, after an absence of 20 years, and has been running consistently, bar for a brief covid enforced pause, ever since, and continues to go from strength to strength. Swansea Fringe is run on an entirely voluntary basis by a dedicated team with a long history of being involved in the local creative arts scene any funds raised through sponsorship or grant funding is used to cover costs and pay performers.
