WHAT IS THE SWANSEA FRINGE?

For one autumn weekend every year, the Swansea Fringe flickers into life. Music venues, art galleries and a few unexpected spaces across Swansea city centre fill with emerging and established music, art, poetry and comedy from Swansea, Wales and sometimes further afield. It’s diverse, it’s exciting and, most importantly, it’s right damn fun.

With nearly a hundred performers across more than a dozen venues, there’s something for everyone.

Applications are open to all local artists and performers, alongside a small number of curated artists and select headliners. Past acts include The Bug Club, Gallops, Afro Cluster, Morriston Orpheus Choir, Trampolene, Buzzard Buzzard Buzzard, Adwaith, Pastel and more.

The Swansea Fringe Festival was re-established in 2017 after a 20-year absence. Aside from a brief, understandable COVID hiatus, it has run every year since and keeps growing. The festival is run entirely on a voluntary basis by a dedicated team with deep roots in the local creative scene. Any sponsorship or grant funding goes towards costs and paying performers.
